BORACAY We started our 3 week Philippine exploration in Boracay Island. This is the most popular tourist destination in the Philippines. The set up is perfect as all of the restaurants/clubs/bars/shops etc. are all along the beach. It's split between stations (1,2,3) with 2 being the centre and busiest. Boracay is known for it's White Sand Beach, partying and endless water sports. We certainly enjoyed all 3 to the fullest. The White Sand Beach of course has the whitest sand and the most turquoise and beautiful water. We loved the energetic vibe that started from the morning and got crazier at night. Oh and the fire shows are night were awesome, reminded us of Thailand. We loved trying new water sports like Helmet Diving and the crazy Fly Fishing (super scary!).
CEBU We spent a night in Cebu City (on Cebu Island) to get a vibe of the everyday city life. We felt like the only tourists exploring the city which was awesome as we got a very authentic Philippine experience. The Philippine people are SO NICE and sweet. We fell in love with them! We also fell in love with their local dessert Halo Halo ;) We then went to the island of Bohal where we saw the famous chocolate hills which is one of the new seven wonders of nature. From there, we went to Oslob in Cebu island where we swam with whale sharks! It was an awesome experience as they were in the ocean in their natural habitat. They are massive but extremely calm and gentle. 8M long. Massive. We also explored the Kawasu Waterfalls which had the most beautiful turquoise water that looked like a pool.
PALAWAN Palawan is the second most visited island, after Boracay. We started in the main city of Puerto Princesa where we saw the Underground River which is one of the new seven wonders of nature. It's an amazing cave that has 100's of different species living in there such as bats. It's like a whole different dark world in there. We then went to the North of the island to El Nido where we spent most of our time. This is the true paradise of the Philippines. We were in shock with the natural beauty this area has to offer. The mountains and islands within the ocean are breathtaking. The area is made up of 45 islands. The main activity to do in El Nido is island hopping. We did 3 different tours where we saw some of the most beautiful landscapes and snorkled to see beautiful coral and fish. Kayaking through the small lagoon and Lovers beach was definitely a highlight for us. We loved Napacan beach which is rated #9 beach in the world. Sunsets at Las Cabanas beach were always gorgeous. You get a very authentic Philippine exprience here as the area is extremely undeveloped.
The warmth and kindness of the Philippine people and the breathtaking ocean landscapes are what we will remember from our 3 weeks in Philippines. Thank you Philippines for our wonderfl experience!
