We spent a total of 2 days exploring the luxurious and diverse island of Singapore.
The city is comprised of 3 distinct ethnic groups: Chinese, Indian and Malaysian. You can see this through the China Town, Little India & Little Arab neighbourhoods within the city. Each neighbourhood is very authentic with their own restaurants, shops and places of worship. English and Mandarin are the two official languages.
Singapore is the most expensive country is South East Asia. So expensive that the average price for a glass of beer is $15. It is certainly a luxurious city and reminds us very much of Las Vegas with it's endless high end shopping malls, casino and nightclubs.
Singapore is known for being very strict and we certainly felt that. There are rules for everything! No eating or drinking on the subway, no chewing gum, no littering, and the list goes on. It is the cleanest city we have ever seen, literally no garbage to be seen on the streets nor is there any graffiti or homeless. The transportation system is very advanced and extremely easy to understand and get around.
The most beautiful section of Singapore is the Gardens by the Bay. This is comprised of beautifully manicured gardens with large towers powered by solar panels that light up at night. Within the gardens are the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest. The Flower Dome housed a large variety of plants and trees seen around the world. The Cloud Forest had a man made waterfall and plants/trees that would be seen within a cloud forest. Not only were these exhibits beautiful, but they were very informative and were geared towards informing the public on saving our planet and reducing pollution.
The most famous and luxurious hotel in Singapore is the Marina Bay Sands Hotel which has an infinity pool on the top floor (57th). The top of the hotel is shaped like a ship and you can see a 360 degree view of Singapore, an especially beautiful sight at night when the entire city lights up. As well as, Singapore is a very eco-friendly city. There are hardly any cars on the roads and the reason for this is that the government makes it extremely expensive to own a car to discourage people from driving.
Singapore is also known for its shopping and it certainly has plenty. You can shop at the most luxurious malls with nothing but designer brands like Chanel and Louis Vuitton. However, there is also amazing cheap shopping where you can find literally anything you'd be looking for.
